Take some time to understand and consider the wider possible reasons for poor retention. Think broadly to see whether issues with the culture or structure of the organisation are responsible for new graduates being unable to reach their full potential. Come up with new and innovative suggestions and proposals to address the issue. Investigate further training opportunities for new graduates and support them in their initiatives to develop themselves. Encourage them to take on challenging roles and instigate a mentorship programme to keep them engaged for the long-term. Review the exit interview notes of departing graduates and their reasons for leaving. Speak with current graduates and colleagues in other parts of the organisation to find out their views. Use your contacts in external organisations to understand how they successfully retain their graduates.
